Rising Literary Presence: Amy’s short fiction has appeared in a number of respected publications, from The Paris Review to The Los Angeles Review of Books. When she chose Amy’s “Suburbia” for inclusion in Best American Short Stories 2018, Roxanne Gay said she had “never read a story like it.” By publishing her novel, followed by her short stories, we plan to build off Amy’s existing success and establish her as a literary force. Arresting Millenial Voice: In her novel and short stories, Amy taps into themes that have been striking a chord with particularly millennial audiences, like complicated power dynamics in romantic relationships and the aching uncertainty of determining life’s course. Her sensitive, comedic voice and sparse prose also fit with a slew of young female writers who have been successful in this space, like Emma Cline and Melissa Broder. Exciting Platform and Film/TV Interest: Amy has not only established herself with her short fiction, but also through her comedy. Her stand-up has appeared on Comedy Central and Amazon Prime, and she was selected as a “New Face” in stand-up at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. She’s currently pitching one of her short stories, “One Rough, One Tender,” for film, and another, “Suburbia!” for television.
